The UCSB Jazz Ensemble presents performances by two jazz groups currently rehearsing at UCSB. Jazz Combo B, directed by Tanner Cassidy (PhD Candidate, Music Theory) present music by Chick Corea, Charlie Parker, John Coltrane, and Joe Henderson for as performed by an octet of UCSB student musicians, including vocalist Bella Holland and flutist Sarah Bortz, a graduate student in flute performance.
Rounding out the afternoon performance is UCSB's flagship jazz ensemble, The "A" Big Band, directed by Jon Nathan, Continuing Lecturer in Percussion and Jazz. The ensemble will perform a wide variety of music from Chick Corea's Señor Mouse, Bill Holman's Ja Da, along with music from Jaco Pastorius and Vulfpeck and vocal performances by Nina Lim and Laura Witucka.
